Karla Daly is a dedicated Counsellor specialising in working with the Deaf community. As a Coda (Children of Deaf Adults) and qualified NAATI Interpreter herself, Karla is deeply committed to providing culturally competent and accessible Mental health and Interpreting services.

Karla’s practice is built on a foundation of trust and mutual understanding. She is passionate about addressing the unique needs of Deaf individuals and is well-attuned in the specific emotional and psychological challenges faced by Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Coda individuals.

Karla’s approach is holistic and person-centered, recognising the importance of the cultural and social context of each individual. In her Counselling practice, Karla emphasises the importance of the systems surrounding her clients, understanding that individuals do not exist in isolation but are part of broader, interacting systems that significantly impact their lives. She works collaboratively with her clients to navigate these systems and increase their confidence, motivation and resilience

Karla believes in empowering her clients by focusing on their strengths, and actively collaborates with them to tailor therapy to their personal experiences and objectives. Whether it’s talk-based therapy or somatic therapy - Karla integrates a variety of approaches that suits her clients needs individually.

Qualifications and Training

Karla is a Registered Counsellor with the Australian Counselling Association and a member of ASLIA. She is up to date with all professional development, undergoes continuing education in evidenced-based practice and receives ongoing supervision from Deaf-friendly professionals.

Karla is an active member of the Deaf community and upholds a high standard of confidentiality, ethics, trust and respect.
